My husband and I started dating in high school and tied the knot shortly after we both graduated from college, following a whirlwind four-month engagement. At the time, Caleb was finishing his bachelor’s degree at Ball State, and I was teaching math in Baton Rouge through Teach for America. I flew back to Indiana, thinking I was just going home for the weekend to celebrate my mom’s birthday—but little did I know, I was actually heading back to get engaged!

Caleb had planned everything. He walked me through the front door blindfolded, where a surprise engagement party with all our friends and family was waiting. Then, in the sweetest moment, he asked me to marry him. It was such a full-circle kind of day—this had truly been a long time coming.

That just got engaged feeling is one of the most magical experiences. You’re full of excitement, imagining your future together, dreaming up wedding plans, and just soaking it all in (or at least, I definitely was!).

Proposal

Sometimes, when you’ve been together for years and life gets filled with the beautiful chaos of raising kids, it’s easy to forget those butterflies—the giddy, head-over-heels feelings from the beginning. This session was such a sweet reminder of the joy and excitement Caleb and I felt the weekend we got engaged. We were completely overwhelmed with happiness—so in love, so full of anticipation for what was ahead.

Megan and Cole got engaged the same weekend we did their shoot, which made the evening even more special. Megan is the sister of a dear friend, and just like me, she thought she was simply flying out to California to visit her sister with her boyfriend, Cole. But behind the scenes, her sister had helped Cole plan the perfect proposal. He popped the question, and to top it off, they already had an engagement session scheduled to capture it all. I’m truly honored to have been part of their story.
