This session has, without a doubt, been the most impactful of my career. There are moments when I feel creatively stuck or when it seems like I'm giving more than I'm receiving. But when Katy reached out to me, everything shifted. My heart sank as I read her message, and it served as a powerful reminder of the deep purpose behind this work.

Katy had just welcomed her son into the world, but joy was shadowed by the loss of her daughter, Harlow. She wanted a newborn session that would honor her son while also incorporating items and photographs of Harlow, keeping her memory alive within their family. I remember coming home after that session, sitting in my car, and crying. My son was around the same age as Harlow when she passed, and I couldn’t even begin to comprehend the depth of grief this family was enduring. But what struck me even more was the incredible strength it took for them to continue moving forward, to build new memories, while holding on to the old.

That experience was a beautiful, humbling reminder of why this work truly matters.
