Holiday Portraits And What I Do With Them

I have loved the idea of taking portrait pictures of each of my kiddos for holidays. Getting outfits, raiding the dollar section at Target and getting them in front of the camera just sounded so fun to me. I ended up investing in a paper stand for a white background and now there is no going back. The milestone portrait sessions I do every year are listed below:
Valentines Day
Easter
4th of July
School portraits
Halloween
Thanksgiving
Christmas
It may seem like a lot, but they literally take 15 minutes with the help of my husband and marshmallows. If you know, you know. Below are the 4th of July milestone portraits that I took this year.
I love them, but now what? What should I do with them instead of editing them and leaving them on my computer? So here are the three things that I do with each session so I don't feel like they just get lost in the cloud.
Birthday Scrapbook
Each of my kiddos have a birthday scrapbook, which yes, covers their birthdays, but I also add in these milestone portraits. I normally do one page in their scrapbook with my favorite pictures I took along with a craft they made for the holiday. Cue all the hand or foot crafts you can do with toddlers.
Grandparent Cards
We live miles and miles away from our family so I love to send them pictures from these sessions with a handmade card.
Update Holiday Frame
I have one frame in my house that is dedicated to "holiday" pictures. I didn't really plan this, but it kindof just happened over time.
That is it. Does it feel like a lot at times? Yes. BUT that is when I give myself grace and skip it. I don't allow myself to feel guilty or pressure to do any of this. If it happens one holiday, and doesn't happen for others, that's okay. When it stops feeling fun and more like a to do, then I skip it and plan for the next one. My biggest goal is to document and use the pictures so they don't get lost. So if I just do one of these things, I call that a win! Happy documenting!
