I started this business out of my deep love for documenting my own family. When I had my son, photos became so much more to me than just sharing them on social media for a few likes and comments. They became a way to freeze time and revisit how small he once was—capturing those precious moments in a meaningful, organized, and creative way. Inspired by this, I make it a point to document his growth, especially during holidays, using the gear I have. But I know not everyone has access to the latest equipment—or even a camera. That's why I want to share some helpful tips with fellow mamas on how to beautifully capture your kiddos at home, no matter the gear you’re working with.

  • Shoot in the Morning - Majority of homes have the best lighting in the morning! Think of the room in your house that has the best lighting in it and clear out a little bit of space. Especially if you are using an iPhone, the darker it is, the slower your shutter speed (slower it will take the picture which means more blur).

  • White Walls - Now that you are in the best lighted room, find a blank wall! If you don't have a white or off white wall, hanging a white sheet on the wall will work!

  • What Does Your Kiddos Like - This seems like an odd thing to think about, but at the end of the day, if your kid isn't happy, the photoshoot will be more stressful for you and them. If they are mobile, what is going to get them to stay in one spot, ie. in front of the white wall :) My son is obsessed with sun glasses right now and can be motivated to do anything with his favorite snack. I took those two things and made them vday "themed." I got a cake pop from Starbucks, which he liked for 10 seconds, so I ended up giving him yogi's IYKYK. I bought the sunglasses from the dollar section at Target and made a quick amazon order for the sweatshirt.

  • Take Your Time - Sometimes as parents we can want quick results because lets be real, we have a lot of things to get done in a day. But for this, it's okay to let them play, eat and explore until they are comfortable with the space.

  • Inspo Over Recreating - It is so easy to go on Pinterest or Instagram and want to recreate EXACTLY what you saw. Using these spaces for inspiration is awesome, but allow your kiddos true personality shine through. No photoshoot will look the same because no two kids are the same.

  • HAVE FUN!
