A Family Session at Coyote Pond Park in Lincoln California

I taught math for seven years before I became a mom. I made the tough decision to leave the classroom and stay home with my son, but there are still so many moments when I miss being in the classroom. For one, I taught middle school, which is honestly never mundane or boring. Every day is different, and the number of decisions you have to make in a matter of seconds can be exhausting, yet so incredibly rewarding.

Then there are the days when I wouldn’t choose to go back at all. That ebb and flow of wanting to stay home while also missing the classroom is a constant reminder of just how hard the job is and how much educators pour into what they do. The dad in this family is an educator too, and he teaches middle school. So getting to photograph a family of educators felt like such a full circle moment, and it made my heart so happy.

They let their kids lead throughout the session, and we let their oldest open up and become more comfortable as the session went on. We laughed, played, connected, and had so much fun together. And that is one of my favorite parts of what I get to do. I love when families find a photographer they truly connect with and love. Below is the review she left for me, and it means so much.
