When you think of family photo sessions, you probably picture toddlers, babies, or elementary-aged kids. Families who continue doing yearly photos once their kids hit the teenage years are becoming pretty rare. I think a big part of that comes down to schedules. Kids today are busier than ever. Between sports, extracurriculars, and time with friends, family photos aren’t exactly at the top of the to do list.
So when a family reaches out wanting their annual photos and they have teenagers, I genuinely can’t hide my excitement.
The Taylor family have had photos taken every year since their kids were babies, and this year their oldest was only home from college for a long weekend, so they had to squeeze it in. But they still made it a priority. And the kids understood the assignment.
Were they thrilled about it at first? Not really. But once we got going, they were laughing, teasing each other, and making fun of their dad’s bald head. A true sign of sibling love. The promise of going out to dinner afterward didn’t hurt either. Whatever obstacles are standing in your way, I promise it’s worth it.
