This shoot came together in a pretty unconventional way, but honestly, the best things usually do, so I was all in. I first photographed their family during my very first fall minis in California. The following year, I casually mentioned on Instagram that I needed a haircut. Before I knew it, Shannon reached out and suggested a trade since she’s a hairstylist. It ended up being the perfect scenario.
We chatted about her outfits while she colored my hair, and we even planned her session at a location I had never shot at before. The family showed up with the same energy they had during their fall session. They were fully present with their kiddos, totally willing to get silly, and we let the kids lead the way the entire time. After that session, this spot quickly moved to the top of my list anytime someone asks where they should get their photos taken. It stays green year-round, has blooming trees in the fall, and the random willow tree is a huge bonus.
